Community Service Day begins with 40+ projects across the cities of Huntington Beach and Fountain Valley.  Sign up to go to a project in the morning with your family, friends and co-workers.  

​

 AFTER serving All Volunteers get a free lunch at the

Community Picnic from 12 noon - 3:00 pm at the Huntington Beach Bandstand behind the Central Library.  

It's an incredible family event with constant entertainment on the stage for three hours.   Non-Profit groups will be displaying their local efforts.

20 hard-working committee members served to plan and organize 

Community Service Day 2024

30 more project leaders stepped up to lead volunteers in service

 

The HB Youth Shelter had plants removed, mulched, compost turned, cleared all dead leaves, washed windows, scraped paint, Food pantry cleaned and organized, sanded & sealed game table and bathroom vanity, added vegetable plants to garden

The Fount Church's large gazebo was repaired, sanded and completely painted

           Huntington Beach Wetlands had 200 volunteers repopulating native plants, dozens of bags  of trash and weeds removed and extended a walking pathway through the wetlands

Irby Park received volunteers to dig, plant and continue the landscape design

100+ posters of Affirmation made for kids at CHOC Hospital

 Oakview Library was weeded, plants added with mulch, washed exterior walls, 

4'x4' murals, cleaned and sanitized library materials and games

Huntington By The Sea Mobile Home Park received cleanup, fix up and beautification

134 volunteers packed 10,142 meals for Rise Against Hunger

One home tagged by HB Code Enforcement was cleaned & loaded 3 40-yard dumpsters and 100 ft tree removed

        36 Volunteers removed  4ft wide strips of weeds from 100 linear feet of  the             garden fence at Secret Garden then replaced it with mulch, other weeding was done in the garden

One dozen fleece full-size blankets were made and given to Many Mansions

2200 plants and 5 trees were planted,and hills of ground cover removed at Mile

 Square Park and a truck load of mulch spread 

Shipley Nature Center was weeded and mulch spread throughout

Diapers were donated online to the OC Diaper Bank

Cleaning, landscaping, and windows cleaned at Robyne’s Landing for Robyne’s Nes

Lifeguard HQ received new flowers, shrubs and palms

50 boxes were loaded with supplies for Operation Christmas Shoebox

58 Comfort pals were made for hospice patients at Hoag Hospital

Urban Forest received weeding, cleaning and mulching

Rancho La Siesta Mobile Home Park was assisted with carport maintenance, weeding and trimming. 

             At the raptor area of the Urban Forest mustard weeds were removed and 

post/cable fence repaired

Foster kids received support with new clothing through KonguerTogether

224 bags of donated snacks given out: 148 to HB Police, 76 to Costa Mesa

Monarch Nature Trail was weeded, mulched and planted

Del Mar Mobile Estates was spruced up with weeding, cleaning and repairs

114 Stuffies donated to Olive Crest

Heritage Park was weeded and 10 bales of hay were laid in the flower beds

9 Volunteers helped to sign in people at various projects

The Navigation Center received over 100 Hygiene Kits 

200 Adult bibs were made for the Alzheimers Family Center

Shrubs were trimmed and flower beds weeded at Surf City Church, volunteers cleaned, windows, and light fixtures 

Alzheimer's Family Center received 100+ handmade stick puzzles and Marble mazes

250 Cards were handmade for the Hospitalized Kids Organization to be distributed.

       8 Mother’s Day baskets filled with gifts for Project Self-Sufficiency and 60 cards written for single parents 

60 Pillowcases were specially created for CHOC hospital

After serving everyone came together

for a Community Picnic in Central Park

​

 

1500+ people attended the Community Picnic at HB Bandstand from 12:noon to 3:pm

The Picnic was hosted by 20 volunteers who served food, helped set up and clean up

 

Over 100 artists from 15+ arts organizations in dance, music, and vocals came to Central Park to serve bringing Joy, Beauty, and Goodness through the arts to uplift and encourage the community and inspire the community to engage in continued service year-round.

Kiwanis Club Huntington Beach and Fountain Valley provided food for the celebration of all volunteers who served that day: 300 hamburgers & 100 hot dogs

100 combination plates were served by Flecha Restaurant

6 nonprofits also promoted serving together and gave a platform for more people in the city to meet and discuss how they can collaborate and share resources to do the most good for all people through serving together.

The ninth annual Community Service Day was Saturday, April 22, 2023
2023 over 1000 volunteers served! 

500 plants were planted, mulched and cleaned up at Mile Square Park

Huntington Beach Wetlands had dozens of bags of trash removed

The HB Youth Shelter was cleaned inside and out, planting, mulch and bikes repaired

A storage container on the Bike path was painted with a mural

3 Huntington Beach signs were repainted and highlighted

The 200-yard wall at Greer Park was completely painted

Irby Park received volunteers to continue the landscape design

The house at Fountain Valley Heritage Park was painted on the outside with new wording

One home was cleaned out as tagged by HB Code enforcement

10,251 meals were assembled for Rise Against Hunger

100 Bears with blankets were made for Choc Hospital

Adult bibs were sewed for Alzheimer's Center

Oakview Library branch was weeded, cleaned and prepared for painting

Weeds were removed at Shipley Nature Center

Brush and weeds were cleared at the Therapeutic Riding Center

Classrooms and bathrooms were repaired and remodeled at the Kinetic Academy School

50 pints of Blood were donated to the Red Cross

FV Neighborhood clean up, removed large items through the area

Monarch Butterfly Trail was weeded, and the path created

Westminster Senior Center was cleaned and enhanced outside

Buckingham Park was cleaned up

Donations were made a Oasis Transitional Housing with a craft project for residents
